Two more days until I begin renovating my next Ugly Duckling

Having had an interest in building or renovating homes for many years, I have several success stories under my belt.  I am about to begin my next "chapter" - taking on the complete renovation of a house, for a couple who live abroad.  They have seen my work, trust my style and have given me carte blanche to do what I want in terms of renovating and decorating this house.  How perfect is that?!  Once completed, they will use the home as a summer vacation retreat with their 4 children.

The house is in pretty bad shape, but with enough time (and money!) I'm convinced we can transform this little ugly duckling into a swan.  The house has been leased for several years and is now in a total state of chaos.  When I went with the owners to discuss the many needs of upgrading the house, we discussed some basic design ideas as well and I asked what was most important to them.  They want something comfortable and fun, a house to entertain their friends and famly and a place that their children can enjoy building holiday memories in.  The husband said he just wants to come back next year and see progress.  I think he has true doubts that this little duckling can ever be a swan. Ha! He has told me he will not check the blog - just come back and see what's been accomplished in 10 months.  His more optimistic wife, is looking forward to being able to see the progress being made (from the opposite side of our globe) via the blog.  Gotta love technology and blogosphere.  Since the time zone challenges often prevent phone calls, we plan to run this entire redesign project via email and blog posts.

Let our journey together begin!
