The problem was that the old plantation style desk had seen better days. It was dark, heavy and really had no place in my current life. Still, I did not want to let it go. I decided it would go on my project list and be jazzed up. After all, I do have a little beach place that is all about color.

And after several days of continuing to work on this thing -
coats of chalk paint, sanding and sealer which all seemed like
it was taking for forever ... my determination paid off.

I have no idea why the lighting in the above two shots make it look more blue than turquoise other that to say my photography skills obviously need some improvement.

And just because I wanted a little color on the inside and my pop of orange,
when you drop the top of the writing space down, this is what you see:
I'm happy with the cheerful little desk now and have the perfect spot for it -
so off to the beach place it will go this weekend.
I also think that my much loved mother-in-law
would be pleased with the new life of her little old desk.
